The 10th Padjadjaran English Competition is About to Start!

After a long period of preparation and registration, the wait for the 10th Padjadjaran English Competition (PEC) has paid off, and the main event is finally upon us. This weekend, on the 22nd and 23rd of November 2025, the 10th Padjadjaran English Competition will take place at the Faculty of Cultural Studies, Universitas Padjadjaran, Jatinangor.

On the first day, the preliminary rounds of the competitions will be held. The day begins with participant registration and an opening session to formally introduce the agenda and provide a brief overview for all participants. From there, participants will be assigned to their respective categories to deliver their performances for the preliminary rounds, which run throughout the morning and continue after the lunch break. These preliminary rounds are conducted in a hybrid format, with on-site participants in the classroom and online participants joining via Zoom. After the rounds conclude, the day wraps up with the announcement of finalists who will proceed to the next stage of the event on the second day. It is also important to note that written competition categories, such as Essay Writing and Short Story Writing, do not require an on-site or online performance.

Moving into the second day of the competition, the final rounds for the competition will take place. As on the previous day, the agenda will begin with participant registration and an opening session, followed by the mobilization of participants to their assigned categories. Like the preliminary rounds, these final rounds will also be conducted in a hybrid format, with on-site participants in the classroom and online participants joining via Zoom. Once the final rounds conclude, participants are invited to join the collaboration event of the day.

On this second day, the 10th Padjadjaran English Competition will collaborate with Gemasi’s Career Workshop, an event designed to help English Studies graduates better understand the current job-market landscape by learning directly from alumni speakers. The workshop features a series of programs, including a CV and LinkedIn Workshop, a Career Focus Talkshow, a Focus Group Discussion, and a Mock-Up Class and Networking Session. Four alumni speakers will be present, three of whom will also serve as PEC judges.

The speakers include Atik Ambarwati, this year’s PEC judge for the University-level Speech category, who has years of experience in humanitarian assistance and international development. Next is Radhiyya Indra, this year’s PEC judge for the Poetry Reading & Writing categories, currently an editorial staff reporter at The Jakarta Post with a background in cultural journalism, long-form storytelling, and national issue coverage. Radhiyya previously joined PEC in 2018 and earned first place in the Poetry category. Third is Nurul Hanifa Aprilia, this year’s PEC judge for the High School Speech category, a content marketing team leader with a decade of experience in content strategy, creative leadership, and brand storytelling across digital industries. Lastly, Zirji Azzakhra will be joining with experience in human capital management across companies and digital learning platforms.

After the full session of Gemasi’s Career Workshop concludes, participants will proceed to a lunch break, which also serves as a transition into the final segment of the day. After lunch, the agenda continues with a special performance before PEC enters its concluding segment: the announcement of finalists for every competition category, including those of the written categories, who are not required to perform on-site.
