Padjadjaran English Competition
The 11th Padjadjaran English Competition is open for registration!
Padjadjaran English Competition (PEC) is an annual competition held by Universitas Padjadjaran’s English Studies students’ association, Gemasi powered by Director of Student Affairs, and consists of five distinct branches: Speech, Storytelling, Poetry, Essay Writing, and Short Story Writing. This event encourages participants to explore ideas, challenge perspectives, and express themselves through the power of language and literature on critical topics.
In 2023, PEC received official recognition from the National Achievement Centre (Pusat Prestasi Nasional) under the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education and was listed in the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology’s Talent Management System, further strengthening its national reputation. PEC participants include senior high school, Islamic senior high school, and vocational school students, as well as university students from various regions across Indonesia. In 2024, PEC successfully attracted participants from outside Indonesia, namely Malaysia, the Philippines, and Brunei Darussalam. Throughout its implementation, PEC has established strong collaborations with judges and stakeholders from diverse professional backgrounds, including academics, artists, journalists, copywriters, and diplomats.
PEC offers a competitive experience that stands out not only in terms of the competition itself, but also in the opportunity to build cross-disciplinary connections. Nationally recognized and gradually expanding into the international arena, PEC serves as a bridge for participants from diverse backgrounds to meet, exchange ideas, and develop their potential in a credible competitive environment. PEC provides an opportunity to compete at the international level without significant geographical or financial barriers.
In addition, PEC actively encourages participants to draw upon literary works as a foundation for critical ideas and discussions that enrich global discourse. This approach is expected to encourage participants to speak up more confidently, even in discussions that challenge conventional thinking or address issues often considered sensitive, such as gender, race, and social class. Through its consistent implementation and increasingly broad reach, PEC has become a strategic platform for the development of academic potential and English-language skills at both the national and international levels in an excellent, impactful, and inclusive manner.
