What They Said about PEC 2023

After wrapping up the whole PEC 2023 event a while ago, on the same day we had the chance to have a quick chat with the winners and runner-ups of this year’s PEC, and here’s what they said about the Padjadjaran English Competition 2023.

Deni Friska Yulianti the Winner of Essay Writing Varsity Level

Aligning with that, Angelene Manuela, a third-place winner in the varsity-level essay competition, described the difficulty of this competition as so-so, not too difficult but not to be underestimated either, and rated the stress level at 7 out of 10. “We are all first-timers, so I think it’s so-so. Maybe it’s a more stressful competition for me, so it’s 7.” Distinct from that, Deni Friska Yulianti shared her valuable tips as a winner of the essay competition at the varsity level. “Maybe I just suggest with the others, the first thing, the most important thing that you have to do is brainstorm your idea for the first time to make sure that the correlation between sentences is cohesion and has a correlation.” She also recommended seeking input from lecturers to proofread your writing.

This competition surely gave various experiences not only for the PEC team but also for the participants, just as Widya Wulandari, the winner of the poetry reading competition at the varsity level, expressed her excitement about the new things she learned during PEC. Aside from her specific competition, she gained insights into noble minds through other segments, such as speech. That is why Amina, the runner-up in the essay competition at the varsity level, said that she will be taking part again in next year’s PEC if she gets the chance.

As PEC continues to be a crucible for talent and innovation, it remains an invaluable opportunity for individuals to challenge themselves and reach new heights in their English language skills.

“For the future participants of PEC, I would like to say that if you think you can do it, then you can do it. No matter how you think your preparation is, no matter whether you are a beginner or an intermediate. If you think you can do it, you should participate.”
